Contrived Experiences

Graphic Organizer

Reflection

Contrived experience are "edited" copies of reality and are used as substitutes for real things when it is not practical or not possible to bring or do the real thing in the classroom. Although these things aren't real, at least the learners will not be ignorant about a certain thing that they didn't see in reality. Contrived experiences are important for teacher to attain lesson objectives.  Contrived experiences are use as representation when things or objects are impossible to bring in the classroom. By the help of these, students can create and imagine things that make the class interactive.

Direct Purposeful Experiences

Reflection

Direct purposeful experiences are the firsthand experiences that serve as the foundation of learning. They are also described as purposeful because these experiences are undergone in relation to a purpose. It involves the sensory experiences which gives a meaningful learning to the students. We should give consideration to our students, and let the student learn of what they do.
As an educator, we should guide our students so that they can draw meaning from their firsthand experiences and elevate their level thinking. Let us help the students develop the five senses to the full to heighten their sensitivity to the world. I learned that a student should be given opportunities to learn by doing and draw meaning from their firsthand experiences and elevate their level thinking.

Using and Evaluating Instructional Materials

Reflection

Using and evaluating instructional materials can give a big impact to the students because through to this they will understand and evaluate easily the lesson. Instructional materials help the teacher for the improvement and effective in teaching-learning process as well as to the progress and development of the learners. In selecting the materials to be used, it's also important to consider the different guidelines that should be needed to become effective and efficient in using it.
As a future educator, we need to have enough knowledge in using it even the instructional materials are good and effective. It is necessary that we should use an appropriate material for our learners or in accordance to the level of their learning and styles. It should also attainable wherein it can successfully attain the learning objective that we set.

Cone of Experience

Reflection

Dale’s Cone of Experience was intended as a way to describe various learning experiences.  The Cone shows the progression of experiences from the most concrete (at the bottom of the cone) to the most abstract (at the top of the cone). I learned that all of the approaches could be used, depending on the needs of the learner. Cone of experience is very helpful as it will aid tremendously in my future days in the classroom and as a student now.
It is important to note not more concrete experiences were better than more abstract ones. This doesn’t mean reading and listening are not valuable learning experiences, simply that “doing the real thing” can lead to the retention of the largest amount of information. It is believed that the more senses that are used, the greater our ability to learn from and remember an event or experience. Teachers bring the world to the learner by the use of what they read, hear, view among others.

Systematic Approach to Teaching

  REFLECTION

The systematic approach to teaching provides a method for the functional organization and development of instruction. It is important to consider the student’s need, interest and readiness and to know when to use an instructional materials and strategies. The teacher should build a bridge between the audience and the objectives by deciding the methods used.

The system approach views the entire educational program as a system of interrelated parts. It is our procedural guide for planning and delivering instruction that integrates technology and media into the teaching process. As a teacher, we need to identify the learners’ perceptual preferences and strengths for us to get the students' attention. One of the important factors to be considered is the output or what the students learn by evaluating them.
